The young leaves. The flowerheads in bloom when the fruits are taking shape.To harvest the seeds, hang above a cloth.

Conservation

 

Drying or freezing the leaves. Drying the seeds. The seeds or the flowerheads in a vinegar.

Culinary use

 

The seeds are used to flavour soups, fish, gherkins, cakes, breads and butter.

 

The flowerheads: the use of just one is enough to flavour a whole jar of gherkins, cauliflowers or cucumbers. Use the finely chopped leaves to flavour soups, potato salads, white cheese, grilled meat and salmon.

 

 

 

Landscaping

 

Because of it's radiant umbels, this plant will give a natural wild look to long and winding borders; can be mixed with lilies, yarrows, wormwoods, poppies and german chamomile.

 

Encourages growth of cabbages, onions and lettuces.
